Our Story

Branded Steer Specialty Foods traces its roots to 1997, when the company was founded as Har-Hoff Specialty Foods by Executive Chef Patrick Harris and Frank Steinhoff III, Lead Salesman at Middendorf Meats in St. Louis. The company introduced two signature products to the market: Old Plantation BBQ Sauce and Devil’s Breath Bloody Mary Mix. Both recipes quickly gained popularity and became staples in kitchens throughout St. Louis, Missouri.

Following the early success of Har-Hoff Specialty Foods, Frank Steinhoff III passed away in 2000, bringing the original venture to a close. Shortly before his passing, Old Plantation BBQ Sauce was rebranded as Branded Steer BBQ Sauce, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the product and laying the foundation for the Branded Steer name.

Twenty-two years later, Frank’s son, Brett Steinhoff, reconnected with Patrick Harris. United by a shared passion for the original vision and a desire to honor Frank’s legacy, they revived the company under a new name: Branded Steer Specialty Foods, LLC.

Today, Branded Steer Specialty Foods carries forward the traditions established in 1997, combining a commitment to quality, authentic recipes, and time-honored flavor with a renewed vision for the future. What began as a small specialty food venture has evolved into a brand built on family, friendship, tradition, and a passion for great food.
